Where to Cross-Country Ski in North Hatley and in Sherbrooke?

As the winter seasons sets in North Hatley and the snow begins to accumulate, we want to share with you some interesting ideas about how to stay both active and healthy during the colder days ahead. Specifically, we would like to talk to you about Cross-Country Skiing in North Hatley.

Many of our guests have asked us about this winter sport and we are glad to be able to help them find the right information. Whether you are just starting out (like we are!) or you are a skilled skier, here are some location and trails you can explore during your next stay in North Hatley.

Mont-Bellevue Park is located at 1440 Rue Brébeuf in Sherbrooke about 17 km from Le Cachet B&B.

This is the largest park in Sherbrooke and covers close to 500 acres of land. Mont-Bellevue not only offers more than 7 km of cross-country ski trails but also it features few alpine ski trails as well. The park is located close to the Sherbrooke University.

You can access the cross-country ski trails at two locations:

  • The Chalet Antonio-Pinard entrance located at 1440 Rue Brébeuf
  • The Rue Dunant entrance located on the corner of Rue Thibault.

The entrance to the park and the parking are both free of charge. You can also rent cross-country skis or snowshoes at the rental boutique. Here are the rental costs:

  • For cross-country skis:
    • 30$ for a full day or 25$ for half a day (Adults 16 years and older)
    • 25$ for a full day or 20$ for half a day (Kids 15 years and younger)
  • For snowshoes:
    • 20$ for a full day
    • 15$ for half a day

Bois-Beckett Park is located at 2265 Rue Beckett in Sherbrooke about 23 km from Le Cachet B&B.

This enchanted forest cover over 170 acres of land and it is home to numerous very old trees. The oldest tree is said to be over 270 years old! Visitors have many trails to chose from. Base de plein Air André-Nadeau is located at 5302 Ch. Blanchette in Sherbrooke about 16 km from Le Cachet B&B.

This outdoor park covers over 110 acres of wild land. During the winter, you can do many outdoor activities including Cross-Country Skiing, Snowshoeing, Skating and much more. The Cross-Country and Snowshoes trails are open everyday from 9AM to 16h30. You need to purchase a pass to access the park and use the trails. You can purchase a daily pass or a season pass.

Daily Passes cost:

  • 4$ for adults (15 years and up)
  • 2$ for kids (6 to 14 years)
  • Free for kids under 5 years

Annual Passes cost:

  • 18$ for adults (15 years and up)
  • 6$ for kids (6 to 14 years)
  • Free for kids under 5 years

You can also rent Cross-Country Equipment and Snowshoes directly there. Please note that the rental shop is open only on Saturdays and Sundays.

Renting the equipment costs:

  • 4$ to rent for 1h
  • 6$ to rent for 2h
  • 7$ to rent for 4h

Jonhville Bog & Forest Park is located at 3325 Ch. North in Cookshire-Eaton about 23 km from Le Cachet B&B.

The access to the park and the parking are both free of charge. The park offers over 550 acres of land and visitors have 4 cross-country ski and snowshoes trails to chose from for a total of 8.5 km in length. The Park is open daily from 8am to sun set. Grandes-Fouches network – Axe de la Massawippi

This network of trails spreads over 15km in length. It that takes you from Sherbrooke, past Bishop University, along an old railroad and all the way to Lake Massawippi. Did you know that one portion of this trail is directly in front of our house?
