Welcome to our family owned B&B in Eastern Townships
We are thrilled that you are considering visiting North Hatley and the beautiful Eastern Townships of Quebec. We would like to take this opportunity to introduce ourselves and provide more background about our B&B.
Not many people know the story behind our century-old new home. The precise year of this house’s construction is still unknown to this day, but many agree that this house was built in the early 1900s. Since North Hatley was officially established in 1897, this makes our B&B one of the first buildings to be built in this beautiful region. Before this house was transformed to a B&B by its previous owner, the house belonged to the St-Elizabeth Church and it served as a rectory.
Iryna Kulinich, the mother. Iryna was born in a small town of Romny in Ukraine. Her family would settle in the capital city of Kiev, where Iryna would pursue a degree in agricultural economics. After immigrating to Canada, Iryna worked at Lise Watier Cosmetics for almost ten years overseeing production of various cosmetic lines.
Now as the proud owner of Le Cachet B&B, Iryna is embracing her passion for hosting. She enjoys preparing food, but also beautifully serving it with her special touch. Her family has enjoyed her meal presentations for years, and now she is sharing her experience with her guests. In her spare time Iryna enjoys gardening, hiking, inventing delicious recipes, doing Pilates, Nordic walking and reading.
Never be afraid to try something new – Iryna
Mykola Dumenko, the son. Mykola was born in Kiev, Ukraine. He studied Finance and International Business at Concordia’s John Molson School of Business. He has worked for numerous years in the financial and banking industry in Montreal. Currently he works in digital marketing industry.
As the proud co-owner of Le Cachet B&B, Mykola oversees customer bookings, marketing and the overall organization of the B&B. In his spare time, Mykola loves to travel, spend as much time outdoors as possible, do woodworking projects, and have a great time with friends and family. He currently lives with his wife Diana and their newborn daughter Penelope in Montreal.
Constant self-improvement – Mykola
We always wanted to have a property outside of Montreal, more precisely in the Eastern Townships. We both loved this area after coming here year after year to enjoy hiking, local wineries, gorgeous natural parks and beautiful towns, like Magog, but also to discover the delicious local restaurants.
We stumbled upon Le Cachet while touring other B&Bs in the area, and we immediately fell in love with this property. Iryna always said that from the very beginning, she had somehow felt like she had been born in this region, and that North Hatley reminded her of her childhood back in the beautiful Ukrainian countryside.
We acquired this house from the previous owner in late April 2012. Since then, each year we have made improvements to the property. In 2015 we completely renovated La Romantique’s and Le Soleil Levant’s in-suite bathrooms. Recently we replaced the basic cable packages by Apple TVs with complimentary Netflix subscriptions in each room. Over the last four years by constantly focusing on providing the best experience to our customers, we where able to go from no presence on Trip Advisor to over 200+ reviews as well as being consistently ranked #1 B&B in North Hatley.
